Public Speaking

Dr. Denise N. Haskins, D.Sc., provides engaging presentations on a variety of STEM and professional topics. A top-rated speaker at Women in Technology International conferences, she has two decades of experience in a variety of settings ranging from the classroom to the conference room. Her public service and volunteer work includes a three year term on the Arlington County Information Technology Advisory Commission and membership on the Virginia Tech Provost Committee for Minority Recruitment. She is a member of the Society of Women Engineers, the National Society of Black Engineers, the International Council on Systems Engineering, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science where she has served on the Fellowship Selection Committee for Security and Diplomacy. In addition, she twice coordinated Engineering Badge Day for Girl Scouts in the Washington-Baltimore Area, a joint venture of various nonprofits and consulting firms, and currently participates in the Women in STEM Leadership COI.

Dr. Haskins currently serves the federal government as a digital engineer on a high-paced team within the defense sector. Professionally, she has been recognized with a variety of awards, worked for top organizations including Raytheon and Booz Allen Hamilton, and holds multiple technical certifications including Certified Systems Engineering Professional, International Consortium IC agile, and R6Sigma. Her academic credentials include a Doctor of Science in Information Science and Systems Engineering from George Washington University, a Master’s of Science in Technology Management with a focus on Management of Information Systems from American                                                                                                   University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Business Management from Virginia Tech.
